Battle: Los Angeles isn’t a remake, but chances are you’ve seen pretty much everything in it before. An alien invasion flick shot in jittery, faux-newsreel style, it serves up a smorgasbord of lamely repackaged movie moments ripped off from other, better films—and little else. Movie geeks who want to play spot-the-reference will at least have something to keep them busy.

Film Critics Don’t Just “Like” “The Social Network”–They Love It

Today, the National Society of Film Critics hooked up with “The Social Network,” the Hollywood version of the founding of Facebook. The movie was chosen for the group’s best picture award, while David Fincher got best director, Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg was named best actor and Aaron Sorkin received the best screenplay award.
